Charles Wade Schwerd has spent the past two decades carving out a reputation as one of the Valley's finest chefs. His passion for food left an indelible stamp on restaurants such as Mastro's Steakhouse, Mastro's Ocean Club and Drinkwater's City Hall Steakhouse, where he was founding chef.
Schwerd, a Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts graduate of the Scottsdale Culinary Institute, began his culinary career in some of Arizona's finest resort kitchens including The Ritz-Carlton, Arizona Biltmore and Arizona Wigwam.
From there, Schwerd served as western regional corporate chef for Ruth's Chris Steak House, overseeing seven restaurants in Arizona and California. In addition, Schwerd opened the company's flagship restaurant in Irvine, Calif., which received the prestigious designation of Culinary Training Center as well as a Black Diamond Award during his tenure.
Schwerd followed that with a successful stint for The Mastro Group, co-founding and opening four restaurants for the group, including the prestigious Mastro's Steakhouse locations in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Beverly Hills, Calif.
Schwerd also served as culinary partner and executive chef for Elway's Colorado Steakhouse in Denver, Colo., before founding his latest endeavor, Arrowhead Grill in Glendale, Ariz.
